Caravan World Rhythms and our musical friends are overjoyed to once again present live music in front of live audiences after a long Covid hiatus.  We launch our return in Victoria, showcasing three diverse award-winning fiddle-guitar-vocal duos from the region, over two evenings, at the atmospheric Victoria Event Centre, featuring Elise Boeur and Adam Iredale-Gray (of the Aerialists) who will host both nights; Pierre Schryer and Adam Dobres, and finally Q and Charlie Gannon.  We are also expecting some Surprise Guests to show up and join our gathering!

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

ELISE BOEUR & ADAM IREDALE-GRAY (Sept 3 & 4) – www.eliseboeur.com, www.adamiredalegray.com/, www.aerialistsmusic.com

A founding member of indie-folk band Fish & Bird, Adam Iredale-Gray is a versatile guitarist and fiddler with deep roots in Irish traditional music and a commitment to innovation. Fiddler and Hardanger fiddle player Elise Boeur draws from the wells of Norwegian and Swedish fiddle music, melds in fistfuls of arcane influences, and emerges with a multi-faceted sound grounded in Nordic traditions. Usually seen touring with their JUNO nominated quintet Aerialists, this is an opportunity to hear their roots come out in a duo setting, as they dig into tunes on hardingfele, guitar, and raging twin fiddles.

PIERRE SCHRYER & ADAM DOBRES (Sept 3) – www.schryerdobres.com

This Canadian duo is a tour de force of versatility, fine musicianship and technical dexterity. Together they represent two diverse and successful music careers laden with awards and nominations including JUNO Awards, Canadian Folk Music Awards, Western Canadian Music Awards and Grammy Awards.

Pierre Schryer is one of Canada’s leading traditional fiddlers. A recipient of numerous titles and awards including Canadian Open Fiddle Champion, and North American Irish Fiddle Champion, Pierre truly captivates an audience with his energy and genuine warmth. His ability knows no bounds, covering styles from Irish, Scottish, Québecois, and Cape Breton to Canadian Old Time, American Swing and more.

Adam Dobres is a highly accomplished guitarist with a natural ability to embody any style of music. He is equally at home with Bluegrass, Celtic, Jazz, Gypsy, Country, Folk, Old Time, Rock, Blues, and more. His love of the electric and acoustic guitar has taken him around the globe. From playing Celtic music with some of Canada’s finest fiddle players including Daniel Lapp and Pierre Schryer, Adam has branched out to Pop Rock with Grammy Nominee Toni Childs and  performed with renowned world musicians from diverse cultures.

Q & CHARLIE GANNON (Sept 4)

Known for their expressive fiddling style and smoldering vocals, Q (formerly Qristina Bachand) is a consummate performer who is clearly at ease on stage. Their contagious energy and love of Folk and Celtic music is always at the forefront as they captivate audiences with energetic and spirited performances which showcase their fiddling and vocal talents. As a singer, Q enjoys performing a repertoire of traditional folk songs that bring out deep emotions with which people can easily relate. In 2017, Q completed a Masters of Traditional Irish Music Performance at the Irish World Academy in Limerick Ireland. For this performance, Q is joined by one of Victoria’s busiest & most sought-after guitarists; Charlie Gannon. Charlie began playing at ten years old, following in the footsteps of his legendary uncle, Oliver Gannon. Upon being introduced to trad music in 2014, Charlie became engulfed in the genre, and now regularly performs around Victoria with many local fiddlers & bands. A formidable pairing – Q & Charlie’s energies are electric & their performances engaging, fresh & fun.
