JOSH DOLGIN – Evening of Yiddish songs with Strings
Josh “Socalled” Dolgin, a true renaissance man of music and the creative arts, performs a transporting evening of Yiddish music, Di Frosh, along with a local Vancouver string quartet. Audiences will be treated to a night of rediscovered Yiddish songs, stories. A co-presentation with the Chutzpah Festival.
GAMELAN BIKE BIKE SUNSET CONCERT
Join us in Hadden Park for an evening of gamelan music, featuring new works by Gamelan Bike Bike, plus an opening set of ‘gender wayang’ music, traditional repertoire associated with the Balinese art of shadow puppetry ‘wayang kulit’.
FLAMENCO DUO: Vancouver – MELON JIMENEZ & LARA WONG
Guitarist Melón Jiménez has made plenty of music, not only in flamenco music but in many related styles. He is both devoted to the tradition of his Andalusian gypsy roots and also, to the innovation of the flamenco guitar, meticulously translating techniques from the sitar, slide guitar, and African gimbri to his guitar. He is joined by award winning flautist Lara Wong, a fresh and distinctive voice in the flamenco scene.

Guitarist Melón Jiménez has made plenty of music, not only in flamenco music but in many related styles. He is joined by award winning flautist Lara Wong, a fresh and distinctive voice in the flamenco scene who is breaking new grounds in flamenco with the bansuri flute.

A founding member of indie-folk band Fish & Bird, Adam Iredale-Gray is a versatile guitarist and fiddler with deep roots in Irish traditional music and a commitment to innovation. Fiddler and Hardanger fiddle player Elise Boeur draws from the wells of Norwegian and Swedish fiddle music, melds in fistfuls of arcane influences, and emerges with a multi-faceted sound grounded in Nordic traditions.

EASTERN EUROPEAN VOYAGE – Sunset Concert
This evening’s Sunset concert will feature two groups showcasing music from Eastern Europe. Vostok trio will enchant you with their sublime vocal arrangements of Ukrainian and Balkan songs. Lache Cercel, well-known BC-based Roma / Romanian violinist will host special guest master accordion player Sergiu Popa (based in Montreal), accompanied by Lache’s Roma Swing Ensemble.
