GAMELAN GITA ASMARA – Balinese Music & Dance
Vancouver's GAMELAN GITA ASMARA present their annual spectacular show, featuring over 20 musicians and dancers.This performance will feature the classical dance Legong Kuntul, with guests Keiko Ninomiya, and, direct from Bali, 15-year-old dance prodigy Putu Suci Pramesti; and the powerhouse Wiranjaya, a torpedo of crashing gongs and intense movement. Mozaico Flamenco forms a six-dancer troupe with two of Madrid’s cutting edge flamenco dancers from the most contemporary companies today, Ricardo Lopez and Emilio Ochando. Inspired by the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca, Café de Chinitas spins the tale of a jealous rivalry between two matador brothers.Flamenco music is joined by haunting Asian melodies of the Orchid Ensemble.
