Medusa’s dynamic arrangement style cross-pollinates the sounds of Middle Eastern, Scandinavian, Celtic, Appalachian, and Eastern European music, as well as original tunes, to create something previously unheard. With this debut release, the band aims to connect audiences across dividing lines of culture and identity to reveal the common threads beneath. Schryer & Dobres feature an eclectic array of musical gems from across the globe including traditional and contemporary tunes in various styles from far reaching places including Canada, Ireland, Algeria, Brazil, Quebec, and more.

fronted by the powerhouse vocalist and dancer Tamar Ilana, Toronto-based 6-piece band Ventanas interweaves flamenco, Sephardic and Balkan music and dance. Drawing inspiration from such legendary artists as the Silk Road Ensemble, Paco de Lucía, and Yasmin Levy, they reimagine Mediterranean melodies and flamenco grooves, and mix contemporary interpretations of ancient ballads with original compositions

This masterful lineup of musicians from around the world features music from Sephardic Jewish, Syrian, and Roma /Eastern European traditions. The group includes legendary Romani accordionist Sergiu Popa, qanun virtuoso Naeem Shanwar and violist Omar Abou Afach, both of whom immigrated to Canada from Syria, and acclaimed Sephardic cellist Noémy Braun.
